Steven Ross Cottle Sr., 62, of Richmond, Texas went home to be with the Lord on June 30, 2016 after a seven-month battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

Screen Shot 2016-07-05 at 5.56.43 AMSteven was born Oct. 20, 1953 in Houston, Texas to John Carl Cottle Jr. and Jacquelin Ross Cottle. In 1965 Steven and his family moved to London, where Steve attended Crookham Court Boarding School in Berkshire and Central High School in London.

In 1971 Steven returned to the states and graduated from Darien High School. He started pursuing a degree in political science at Southern Connecticut State University. He transferred back to his home state and attended the University of Houston where he graduated in 1981.

Steven was a devout Christian and an active member of Katy Bible Church. Steven will be remembered as a loving husband, wonderful father, a great friend, and his most exciting role, grandpa. He enjoyed playing golf and traveling to various golf courses with his friends. He also loved music; playing the guitar and performing in several bands.

Steven is preceded in death by his parents, John Carl Cottle Jr. and Jacquelin Ross Cottle.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Vickie Cottle; children Steven Cottle Jr. of Montevallo, Ala., Mary (Brad) Shields of Alabaster, Ala., Joseph (Olivia) Cottle of Richmond, Texas, Catherine Cottle of Katy, Texas, Samuel Cottle of Houston, Texas, and one grandson Hudson Cottle; brother John (Nichole) Cottle of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; sisters Terry (Steve) Ballard of The Woodlands, Texas, Lee-Ann Cottle of London and many nieces and nephews who he deeply loved.

The Cottle family would like to thank the nurses, patient care assistants, doctors and other staff at MD Anderson for their care in Steven’s fight against leukemia.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5 to 8p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Boulevard, Katy, Texas. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Katy Bible Church, 2500 Avenue D in Katy. Graveside service and interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Klein Memorial Park, 14711 FM 1488 Road, Magnolia, Texas.
