Robert “Bob” Michael Heslin, husband of Elizabeth (Spada) Heslin, passed away unexpectedly and suddenly on May 12.

He was the son of James & Louise Heslin.

Bob was a veteran of the Vietnam war. He worked for Aetna Health Plans for 27 years, and retired in 1996 as vice president. After his retirement, he and Beth became the owner/operators of Jan-Pro Cleaning Systems of Southern, Conn.

After selling the business, he fulfilled his dream of helping people, and was the director of pastoral care at New Beginnings Community Church. He was known for his humility and genuine love for people. Bob was gentle, kind and generous.

He was known as “FUB”, Fun Uncle Bob, to all his nieces and nephews.

As a member of New Beginnings Community Church, his greatest joy was holding the church door open every Sunday, and greeting each and every person who came through by name.

He loved riding his Harley, family vacations in Ormond Beach, buying donuts for the grandchildren, having his cigar and seeing his friends every Tuesday night at the lounge.

He is survived by his children, Krista (John) Morris, Matthew (Kim) Heslin, and Michael (Jennifer) Heslin, and his five grandchildren; William, Spencer and Owen Morris, and Rylan and Bryce Heslin.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, James (Mary) Heslin, Patricia Olsen, Susan (William) Quish, Stephen (Jeanne) Heslin and Sharon (Kevin) Kruszewski.

Family and friends are invited to call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, May 19 at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill. Burial with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.

The Heslin family also invites you to join them on Saturday May 20, 2017 at 10 a.m. for a memorial service at New Beginnings Community Church in Darien.
