Police: Supermarket Store Detective Catches Cashier With Her Hand in the Till

An cashier at Stop and Shop was seen by a store detective who said the employee was seen taking cash from a register and hiding it on her person, according to Darien police.

Police gave this account of what happened, including accusations not proven in court:

Store detectives at the supermarket had been alerted that there were cash shortages at register where Lamanda Terry, 48, of Bridgeport had been working, so they watched her.

Police were called to the supermarket at Goodwives Shopping Center, 25 Old Kings Hwy. North, at 3:12 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14 and spoke with Terry, who admitted that she stole $60 from the register.

Terry, who lives on Fremont Street in Bridgeport, was issued a misdemeanor summons and was released on a promise to appear Oct. 14 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
