Original article, Oct. 29:

A masked man dressed in black showed a black gun to the attendant in the Gulf Station at 1044 Post Road on Friday and demanded money, police said.

Darien police described what happened:

At about 8:30 p.m., a black male, of medium build, between about 5 feet 10 inches and six feet in height, wearing a black North Face jacket with fur around the hood, black pants, and a black mask over his face, entered the store through the front door. The robber showed the clerk a gun, also black, and said he came for money. He told the clerk to move.

The clerk opened the register, then stepped back as the robber took cash from it. A witness who was leaving the store corroborated what the clerk told police, as did surveillance video records, which also showed the robber leave through the front door and head east.

Police looked around the area but didn’t see the suspect. A state police K-9 came to the scene to try to track the robber, but the dog wasn’t able to find him, either.

Police detectives went to the scene to process it for evidence. The investigation is continuing.
