As an employee at a local supermarket was earning her wages, money in her purse was being stolen, at least twice, in the rear of the store where workers keep their belongings, she told police.

Darien police provided this further information about the reported thefts:

On Saturday, Dec. 22, the woman met with Darien police officers to tell them about the ongoing theft of money.

She said that on the previous Saturday she had hung her coat up, with her purse, before starting her work day at Palmer’s Market, 246 Heights Road.

Then and on another occasion, when she ended her shift and got her purse she found it unzipped. On the first occasion, $100 was missing; $15 was missing the second time it happened.

Police spoke with a store manager, who said store employees haven’t had any other problems with thefts.
