A new show with “Photography and Sculpture” will be on view at the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC), from Sunday, Aug. 9 through Sept. 6, 2020. This open-call, juried exhibition features 86 pieces by 45 area artists.

RAC has resumed normal summer gallery hours: Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., then Tuesday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

The chair for the exhibition is Jay Wilson and the co-chair is Nancy Breakstone. The judge, Thomas Mezzanotte, has been exploring the potentials of the photographic medium for over 35 years.

Educated at the University of Bridgeport, he became the director of the university’s Carlson Gallery in the 1980s. As a Connecticut Commission of the Arts master teaching artist, he conducts workshops at schools across Connecticut and at universities nationwide.

His work has been exhibited at many galleries and museums around the United States including New York University, the George Eastman House, the John Stevenson Gallery in the Chelsea, York City and the William Benton Museum in Storrs.

RAC celebrates the study, creation and appreciation of the arts through classes, exhibitions and events open to all in the community. This 60-year-old nonprofit organization, with a gallery and art school, overlooks the scenic Five Mile River at 145 Rowayton Ave. has workshops and classes at all levels offered to children and adults.
