‘Marine and Coastal Art’ Exhibit Winners Announced by Rowayton Arts Center

Winning paintings, photos and ceramic works have been announced for Rowayton Arts Center’s new exhibit, “Marine & Coastal Art,” now on view through Oct. 10. — an announcement from Rowayton Arts Center
This popular exhibition boasts over 100 submissions submitted by RAC exhibiting members, a group of 180 local artists in the area.  The Chair for the exhibition is Dana Laird and the Co-chair is Gregg Welz. Winners were announced by the judge, Brechin Morgan:

Best in Show: Kris Toohey of Westport for “Skyscape” (Painting),

1st Place: Kirsti Holtan of Stamford for “Keeled Over” (Photography),

2nd Place: Yasemin Tomakan for “Wharf Cottages Nantucket” (Painting),

3rd Place: Sean Murtha of Norwalk for “Booth Bay Morning” (Painting)

A new show by exhibiting members at the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC), “Marine & Coastal Art,” will be on view Sept. 13 through Oct. 10, 2020. The opening reception is free and open to the public with limited admission and no refreshments (BYOB) on Sunday, Sept. 13 from 4 to 6 p.m.

RAC gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 12 noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A new show with “Photography and Sculpture” will be on view at the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC), from Sunday, Aug. 9 through Sept. 6, 2020. This open-call, juried exhibition features 86 pieces by 45 area artists. — an announcement from Rowayton Arts Center
RAC has resumed normal summer gallery hours: Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., then Tuesday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
The chair for the exhibition is Jay Wilson and the co-chair is Nancy Breakstone.

The opening reception is free and open to the public on Sunday, Feb. 9 from 4 to 6 p.m.

RAC celebrates the study, creation and appreciation of the arts through classes, exhibitions and events open to all in the community. For almost 60 years, this nonprofit organization has been a cultural gem in Rowayton. The gallery and art school overlook the scenic Five Mile River at 145 Rowayton Ave.
