From Edward Lawrence Funeral Home:

Joan Darcy Sorgi, a 25-year resident of Darien, passed away on July 8, 2015, after an admirable battle with cancer. Born in the Bronx, Joan was the daughter of the late Donald and Geraldine Darcy, and the sister of the late Dwight Darcy. She was 62 years old.
Screen Shot 2015-07-10 at 7.06.45 PMJoan attended the Academy of Mount St. Ursula in the Bronx, and later graduated from Iona College in 1974. She enjoyed a successful career in retail management and at Con Edison before becoming a full-time mother and homemaker, which, to Joan, was the most important role of her life.

She was a member of St. John Parish and volunteered for many organizations, including the Center for Hope and Person-to-Person. She also enjoyed spending time with her family in Cape Cod.

The greatest joy in Joan’s life was her family. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Paul, their children, Kate and Kevin, son-in-law Matthew Coleman, future daughter-in-law Kaitlin Williams, grandchildren Lizzie and Gavin, and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Joan was loved and admired by her family and often described as exceedingly positive, generous, and compassionate.

A wake will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home in Darien from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 13. A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14 at St. John Church in Darien, with burial to follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
