Professional Physical Therapy has announced the acquisition of Moore Physical Therapy & Fitness, which has a location at 53 Old Kings Hwy. N. in Darien and elsewhere in Connecticut.
The acquisition of Moore Physical Therapy & Fitness is the fourth acquisition agreement Professional Physical Therapy has closed so far this year and the 10th in the past 122 months, Professional Physical Therapy (PPT) said in a news release.
The Moore acquisition “further expands Professional Physical Therapy’s outpatient physical therapy centers to 78, the largest provider in the Northeast,” according to the statement
.
With the Moore acquisition, PPT (founded in 1978) now runs 78 outpatient physical therapy centers, including 12 located within Equinox Fitness Centers, another six in other places and 60 stand-alone centers, like the one at 53 Old Kings Hwy. N. in Darien.
“The company’s outpatient physical therapy centers provide treatment to patients suffering from musculoskeletal impairments associated with orthopedic and sports injuries and other medical conditions,” according to the PPT news release.
Moore Physical Therapy also has seven other locations in Connecticut, including Stamford, Southport and Wilton. One of PPT’s locations is in Norwalk.
Ownership Disputes
In April 2014, the Stamford Advocate reported a bizarre twist in the midst of a civil lawsuit between some of the owners of Moore Physical Therapy, in which it was claimed that some owners wanted to force out Robert Moore, who was the founder and CEO of the company.
The man who filed the lawsuit, Craig Wood of Wilton, reportedly a physical therapist and “president and chief operating officer of the holding company that owns the business,” was arrested after a marshal said he found crystal meth in Wood’s sock as Wood was entering the Stamford courthouse. Wood was being searched after something had set off the metal detector at the courthouse entrance.
