Here’s what’s open and what’s closed around Darien on Labor Day weekend:

FRIDAY
- Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles — open half a day, from 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Beware: Long lines have persisted since the DMV’s recent weeklong closure.)
- AAA offices, which can process some state Department of Motor Vehicle forms, will be open normal business hours.

SATURDAY
Closed:
- Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles — closed (and it’s normally closed on Mondays; reopens Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 7:45 a.m.)
Open:
- Darien Recycling and Refuse Center (the Town Dump): Open normal hours, 7 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. (closed on Monday).
- U.S. Post Offices
- Norwalk Community College classes (but the college is entirely closed on Monday)
- AAA offices, which can process some state Department of Motor Vehicle forms, will be open normal business hours.
- Metro-North will operate on regular weekend schedules (for more on Metro-North scheduling, see this article).
- Meatball & Co. open until 10 p.m.
SUNDAY
Normally open, but closed this Sunday:
- Land Rover of Darien
- Ferguson Library in Stamford
Open:

- Meatball & Co. open 5 to 9 p.m.
MONDAY, LABOR DAY
Closed:
- All or nearly all banks, including TD Bank
- Darien town offices
- Connecticut state offices
- U.S. government federal offices
- U.S. Post Offices
- Darien Recycling and Refuse Center
- Darien Public Schools
- Darien Library (also Rowayton Library, Norwalk Library, Ferguson Library, New Canaan Library)
- Darien Nature Center
- Darien Senior Activities Center
- CT Transit buses will operate on a regular Sunday schedule and have no Commuter Connection service
- Norwalk Transit District buses will not operate
- Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles is normally closed on Mondays and will be closed this Monday. Department offices reopen Tuesday at 7:45 a.m. (Beware: Long lines have persisted since the DMV’s recent weeklong closure.) AAA offices will also be closed.
Open:
- Darien YMCA will be open from 5 a.m. to 12 noon. (Follow the link for information on when certain programs will take place and facilities will be open.)
- Land Rover of Darien will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Stepping Stones Museum for Children
- Maritime Aquarium (until 6 p.m., but 5 p.m. winter hours start Tuesday)
- Sunday service will be in effect on Metro-North’s New Haven, Hudson and Harlem lines (for more on Metro-North scheduling, see this article).
- Infinity Fitness in Darien (and New Canaan) training sessions: 7 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m.
- Meatball & Co. open 5 to 9 p.m.
TUESDAY
- Pear Tree Point School — first day of school
- Maritime Aquarium closes at 5 p.m. until July 1
