Here’s what’s open and what’s closed around Darien on Labor Day weekend:

FRIDAY

  • Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles — open half a day, from 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Beware: Long lines have persisted since the DMV’s recent weeklong closure.)
  • AAA offices, which can process some state Department of Motor Vehicle forms, will be open normal business hours.

SATURDAY

Closed:

  • Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles — closed (and it’s normally closed on Mondays; reopens Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 7:45 a.m.)

Open: 

  • Darien Recycling and Refuse Center (the Town Dump): Open normal hours, 7 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. (closed on Monday).
  • U.S. Post Offices
  • Norwalk Community College classes (but the college is entirely closed on Monday)
  • AAA offices, which can process some state Department of Motor Vehicle forms, will be open normal business hours.
  • Metro-North will operate on regular weekend schedules (for more on Metro-North scheduling, see this article).
  • Meatball & Co. open until 10 p.m.

SUNDAY

Normally open, but closed this Sunday:

Open:
