Darien High School students performed better on the SAT, ACT and AP tests used for college admissions than did a comparable group of the high schools in Connecticut, according to data just released by the school district.

And the school’s performance on these tests has been consistently higher than similar schools for the past five years, according to district officials.

The figures are part of a presentation that Superintendent of Schools Dan Brenner is scheduled to give Tuesday to the Board of Education at its regular meeting. The school district released a copy of Brenner’s slide presentation, made up almost entirely of a series of tables comparing Darien High School scores to scores for the “District Regional Group A.”

DRG A is a set of high schools that the state Department of Education uses to compare how districts with similar tax bases and demographics are performing in many different areas. Along with Darien Public Schools, DRG A consists of Easton, New Canaan, Redding, Ridgefield, Weston, Westport, Wilton and Regional District 9. (Regional District 9 governs one school — Joel Barlow High School, where Redding and Easton public high school students are taught.)

In past reports on the Darien district’s test scores, the district has been found to be doing better than some districts in DRG A and worse than others. The figures in this report compare Darien to the DRG A districts as a whole.

Brenner’s report is Item 7b on the agenda for the Board of Education meeting. The report is expected to be delivered any time between 8:15 and 9:30 p.m., according to the agenda. The public part of the meeting starts at 7:30 a.m. in the Administrative Offices Meeting Room at Darien Public Schools headquarters at 35 Leroy Ave.
