In a neighborhood frequently targeted by thieves trying unlocked car doors overnight, two more vehicles were entered at night from Monday to Tuesday, March 12 to 13.
The Jeep and the pickup truck were parked outside less than 300 feet from each other, at different addresses on Holmes Avenue and nearby Holmes Court.
Police described what happened this way:
At 11:29 a.m. on Tuesday, a resident of 2 Holmes Court told police her unlocked, green Chevrolet K1500 pickup was entered sometime overnight. When she went to the truck she saw the front passenger door slightly open, and the glove box was open, with the contents on the front passenger seat.
Nothing appeared to be missing. Officers looked around the neighborhood and asked neighbors if they’d seen, heard or knew of anything suspicious, but police didn’t report learning anything from residents.
But at about 12 noon, police did find that another vehicle had been entered nearby at 141 Holmes Ave., and items had been stolen.
A woman told police that her white 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, left unlocked in the driveway, had items stolen from it. When she went out to the Jeep, she saw that a diaper bag was missing, and someone had gone through the contents of the glove box.
She was missing several gift cards. She didn’t know their value. There was a pair of sunglasses valued at $160 in the diaper bag.
