Editor’s note: We didn’t see the Planning and Zoning Commission’s agenda posted on the town government website, at least there isn’t a link to it from the calendar on the home page. We publish the full agenda below.

The agenda can be found here on the website, and it was emailed to news organizations and others on Friday. Darien TV79 plans to cover the meeting live, starting at 8 p.m. On the agenda are discussions related to:

  • Bankwell, a bank headquartered in New Canaan, is proposing to locate a branch in part of the space formerly occupied by Panera Bread restaurant.
  • Fairfield County Bank wants to establish a branch at the former site of International
    Tile at 1897 Post Road in downtown Noroton.

PUBLIC HEARING

Proposed Amendment of the Darien Zoning Regulations #5-2017 put forth by Slavko Enterprises, LLC, 85 Old King’s Highway North. Proposal to amend Section 210 (Definitions) to define ‘Child Care’, ‘Child Care Center’, ‘Child Care Home, Family’, and ‘Child Care Home, Group’, and to remove the existing ‘Nursery School’ definition; amend Section 714 to allow ‘Child Care Centers’ by Special Permit in the Office Business (OB) Zone; amend Section 403 to allow ‘Child Care Home, Family’ as an accessory use in residential zones; amend Section 404 to allow ‘Child Care Home, Group’ by Special Permit in residential zones, and ‘Child Care Center’ by Special Permit as an accessory use to churches, clubs, and private schools, and to remove ‘Nursery Schools’; and to amend Section 904 to establish a parking standard for ‘Day Care Centers’. The full text of the proposed zoning regulation amendment is on file and available in the Town Clerk’s office and the Planning and Zoning Office for inspection. The subject property in connection with this proposed amendment is located on the southeast side of Old King’s Highway North approximately 500 feet north of its intersection with Brookside Road, and is shown on Assessor’s Map #35 as Lot #38 in the OB Zone.

Proposed Amendment to the Darien Zoning Regulations #7-2017 put forth by Greenwich Manor, LLC, 1063 Boston Post Road. Proposal to amend Sections 651, 652, 654, and 1005 of the Darien Zoning Regulations to permit financial service uses on the first floor of the Central Business District (CBD) by Special Permit. No drive-up windows or drive-up ATM’s shall be allowed in connection with such uses. The full text of the proposed zoning regulation amendment is on file and available in the Town Clerk’s office and the Planning and Zoning Office for inspection. The subject property in connection with this proposed amendment is located on the north/west side of Boston Post Road approximately 150 feet south/west of its intersection with Brook Street, and is shown on Assessor’s Map #73 as Lot #8 in the CBD Zone.

Business Site Plan Application #171-G / Special Permit, Greenwich Manor, LLC, 1063 Boston Post Road. Proposal to establish a new 1,850+/- square foot Bankwell bank/financial institution in a portion of the first floor space formerly occupied by Panera Bread. The subject property is located on the north/west side of Boston Post Road approximately 150 feet south/west of its intersection with Brook Street, and is shown on Assessor’s Map #73 as Lot #8 in the CBD Zone.

Land Filling & Regrading Application #425, David Hughes, 18 Winding Lane. Proposal to construct a 20’ x 40’ in-ground pool, with an associated terrace and retaining wall; and to perform related site development activities. The 1.4+/- acre subject property is situated on the east side of Winding Lane, approximately 1,100 feet north of its intersection with Arrowhead Way, and is shown on Assessor’s Map #64 as Lot #14 and is located in the R-1 Zone.

Business Site Plan Application #225-A, Fairfield County Bank, 1897 Boston Post Road. Proposal to install a drive-up Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) in the second drive-up lane (outside lane) in conjunction with the building presently occupied by International Tile. The 0.49+/- acre subject property is situated on the north side of Boston Post Road at the northwestern corner formed by its intersection with Dickinson Road, and is shown on Assessor’s Map #42 as Lot #6 in the Neighborhood Business (NB) Zone.
