Somewhere on the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich, lanes are being closed for a project to reduce slipping by vehicles on the highway, the state Department of Transportation says.
The project is expected to last until Oct. 24, about four months away. The good news is that the lanes will only be closed at night.
Lane closures are only expected to occur overnight: between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. on the southbound-traffic lanes and between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. on the northbound side.
$2.7 million project was awarded to Waters Construction Co. ConnDOT officials say in the announcement that they hope to reduce the number of crashes and the number of vehicles slipping off the highway.
