2016 Marie Hurley Travel Program: The Ancient Cave Art of Europe: Following the Trail of the World’s Earliest Artists

Sunday, April 3 at 2 p.m.
Main Library, DiMattia Building, Third Floor Auditorium

Join Ian Tattersall, curator emeritus of the American Museum of Natural History and an internationally-known paleoanthropologist, for a look at famous Ice Age caves and the fascinating art produced by our ancient ancestors.

Prehistoric people created bold wall paintings in hidden caves and small portable carvings of delicate beauty. These powerful images of animals and humans, and mysterious geometric designs, reveal early man’s complex view of the world and his impulse toward spirituality.

Program supported by the Friends of The Ferguson Library and co-sponsored by the World Affairs Forum. Light refreshments will be served. A book sale and signing will follow the presentation. For information, call 203 351-8231.
