“Find your new favorite dessert in town!!” says the Darien Parks and Recreation Department, which runs the event. “The Something Sweet Dessert War features some of your local favorites to fulfill your weakness for some sweet indulgence.”

The event takes place from 12 no0n to 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 8 — six days before Valentine’s Day — at the Mather Center part of the Town Hall complex at 2 Renshaw Road. It’s free to get in and costs $5 per person to sample one dessert from each competing food business.

Samples are “guaranteed to the first 200 Dessert War participants,” Park & Rec says. The event will also feature free activities for the kids including Valentine’s Day card decorating and face painting.
