For someone with a mental health condition, the basic necessity of a stable home can be hard to come by. NAMI Southwest CT (an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness) has assembled a panel of professionals who will discuss different types of housing and the varying degrees of independence and care they offer.

The panel discussion, “Mental Health Housing,” will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Tully Center Auditorium, 32 Strawberry Hill Court, Stamford. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
The presentation will be followed by an audience question-and-answer session.

Floren L. Schertzer, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker at BlueSky Behavioral Health. She works with clients of various ailments including substance abuse, trauma, cancer survivors, Alzheimer’s clients and their caregivers, death and bereavement.
Sarah Bell is the director of community outreach at BlueSky Behavioral Health, a CARF accredited national and local provider of mental health and addiction treatment services in Danbury.
John Labieniec, LCSW is the vice president of acute and recovery services at Continuum Care Inc., a not for profit organization that has been providing housing and residential support services to persons with psychiatric and intellectual disabilities since 1966. He is a licensed clinical social worker with an expertise in addiction, mood disorders and trauma. He has an extensive background in psychotic disorders and assisting individuals through the criminal justice system.
Valerie S. Williams is the executive director of Keystone House, a nonprofit organization that provides residential and psychosocial services for adults with psychiatric disorders in greater Norwalk.
