Anthony (Tony) Joseph Verrico Sr., 74, of Stamford, Darien, Wilton, and North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 20,at Wilton Meadows Convalescent Home in Wilton.
He served his country as a member of the United States Navy and was a retired U.S. Postal worker.
He had many interests, from building and flying model planes, to working on engines of all sizes. He was a car buff, enjoyed music from the Doo-wop era especially those “Oldies but Goodies,” and don’t forget Country Music! Tony loved fishing, boating, traveling, and cooking.

He is survived by his wife Polly A. (Schneider) Verrico, sister Barbara M. Verrico Pereira and her husband Joseph S., brother Joseph P. Verrico and his wife Frances (Betsy) Saxe., granddaughter Savanah A. Verrico Cartagena and her husband Efrain, great grandchildren: Eli, Efrain and Lia Taylor Cartagena, and several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his mother, Concentina R. Procaccini Verrico; father, Joseph Verrico; brothers: Peter John Verrico and Robert Michael Verrico; and his sons: Anthony Joseph Verrico Jr. and Robert Karl Verrico.
There will be a memorial service at 12 noon on Saturday, May 5 for family and friends at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, 471 Mansfield Ave., Darien, with a reception to follow. Edward Lawrence Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Interment will be privately held.
