Camp is in session at Darien Library this summer as the Darien Children’s Library invites all kids ages birth to 12 to participate in this year’s Summer Reading Club, “Camp Darien: Choose Your Adventure!”

Registration is set to open Monday, June 5 here or at the Library.
Participants who register between June 5 and June 15 will be entered into a special raffle for an awesome camp prize! The Library will draw a winner on Friday, June 16th at 5:30 p.m.

The Library offers two summer reading options for children: one for pre-readers and one for independent readers.
Pre-readers aged five and under are welcome to join the “Read to Me Club” and use a Read to Me Log to record all the books read together. For every 10 books (up to 30 books) you share with a grown-up, you will be entered in a special Read to Me Club raffle.
Independent readers up to age 12 are invited to join the Camp Darien Reading Challenge. Each participant in Camp Darien will receive a Trail Map that consists of five reading challenges and five physical challenges.
Campers who complete their Trail Map by Wednesday, August 16 will be entered into a Grand Prize raffle, which will be drawn at the Summer Reading Finale Party.
Every child will receive a free book when signing up for Summer Reading!
The Library’s Read to Me Finale Concert is slated for Friday, August 11 from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in the Louise Parker Berry Community Room and will feature the Grammy-nominated duo The Pop-Ups.
Participants in Camp Darien (grades K-6) are invited to the Finale Party in the Library’s courtyard on Thursday, August 17 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
There will be music, raffles, food, games, and photo-ops. The winner of the Camp Darien Challenge will be announced. Registration for this party will begin Tuesday, August 1.
Children, teen, and adult programs are funded by contributions to the Annual Campaign for the Darien Library.
