Two letters to the editor: One from First Selectman Jayme Stevenson (which came in first), the other from Republican Town Committee publicity chairs on the recent caucus and GOP candidate slate:

From the Republican Town Committee:
To the editor,
It was inspiring to see over 300 Darienites turn out to endorse an outstanding slate of fifteen Republican candidates for this fall’s elections. With standing room only in the Town Hall Auditorium, attendees remarked this Caucus was clear, organized and transparent with minimal wait time at check-in.
Of particular note was a democratic process at work as two positions on Darien’s Board of Selectmen were contested by two petitioning candidates. Following opening protocol to set a ballot, over 300 attendees cast votes. Congratulations to Susan Marks and Kip Koons, with appreciation for the candidacies of Spencer McIlmurray and Joe Warren.
A special thank you to Registrar John Visi and his office team of three for helping keep a large crowd and many ballots organized; to RTC member Nanci Natale and her team of volunteers who did an amazing job with check-in and ballot collections (Jacki Calabro, Chris Taylor, Eric Joosten, Ray Slavin, Vin Burke, Arden Broeking, Bonnie Dora, Janet Grogan); to RTC Chair Karen Armour, RTC Secretary Laurie Williamson and the RTC Rules Committee chaired by Doug McKay for thoughtful and thorough planning; and to Caucus Chair Michael Murray and Caucus Secretary Clara Sartori for flawless execution.
Lastly, thank you to all of the candidates who selflessly dedicate their time to serve our Town — and to all of the volunteers and Town Hall employees who support them: Jayme Stevenson, Kip Koons, Susan Marks, Donna Rajczewski, Joan Hendrickson, Kathleen Larkins, James McLaughlin, James Palen, Sarah Schneider-Zuro, Betsy Hagerty-Ross, Rick Dolcetti, Susan Cameron, Dick DiDonna, Lou Calastro and Joe Tarnowsky.
We are fortunate to have committed team members and many other loyal Republicans who recognize the importance of integrity of the process. Despite occasional differences of opinion, “one party – one team” is a feature of this and our other events.
