An employee at a downtown store recently got a call from her husband, who told her that there had been fraudulent purchases on one of her credit cards.
When she checked her purse, which was in the back room of the store, she found her wallet was missing. Along with money, it had the credit cards in it that were charged for the purchases she hadn’t made at Nordstrom and Best Buy with the couple’s American Express card and at Target with a Target credit card.
She told police that she had been working at her job at House of Needlepoint, 839 Post Road, when two females entered the store at about 12:45 p.m. the day before (Sunday, March 15).
The two asked the employee for help and at some point the victim brought them into the back room, where some items were kept. The victim then attended to other customers, leaving the two females to look at the merchandise.
At 1 p.m., Tuesday, the woman’s husband called her about the fraudulent purchases.
