The party was over for a 27-year-old New Jersey man who got into a dispute with someone else and then grabbed two knives out of the kitchen of a Morley Lane house, according to police: The man was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.

Darien police described the incident and arrest with this account (including accusations not proven in court):

The man, a resident of Hamilton, N.J., had an interest in a woman at the party early Sunday morning, Aug. 21, who he saw talking with others.

At some point, the man asked a couple of people if they had ever been in a fight before. He got into an argument with another man who told him he had duct tape and $4,000 and could make the New Jersey man “disappear.”

That’s when the Garden State man went in the kitchen and got two knives. Police were called at 4:38 a.m. They charged the man with the knives with disorderly conduct and later released him on a $250 bond. He is scheduled to appear Aug. 31 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

The man who talked about his ability to make the New Jersey man disappear was not charged by police with anything. He told police that he had said it in the heat of the moment.
