Angelo F. Luchetta, 82 of Stamford passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Stamford Hospital.

Angelo was born in San Vincenzo la Costa, Cosenza, Italy on Feb. 14, 1934. He moved to the United States in 1949 when he was 15 years old, then lived in Port Chester, N.Y. for a short time before moving permanently to Stamford.

Angelo worked as a tailor. He first worked at Zemo Brothers in Port Chester, before moving on to Chakalos Tailoring in Greenwich for about 30 years. Then Angelo completed his tailoring career at Darien Sport Shop until his retirement last year at the age of 81. He loved all his customers and co-workers, and he took pride in his work.

Angelo is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carmela Luchetta; his three sons, David Luchetta of New Milford, Dennis Luchetta of Stamford and Kevin Luchetta and his wife Karen of Wilton; four grandchildren ,Megan and her husband Zachary Simao of New Milford, David Jr Luchetta of New Milford, and Riley & Ryan Luchetta of Wilton. He has one great grandson, Liam Camp of New Milford.

He also is survived by his sister Eva Luchetta of Cosenza, Italy and Mario Luchetta of Weston. Angelo was pre-deceased by his brother, John Luchetta, of Norwalk.

Angelo was an avid baseball fan and his favorite team was the New York Yankees. He never missed a game on the TV or radio. He loved taking care of his garden, especially his tomato plants. A Mass was held in honor of Angelo on Saturday Oct. 22 at St. Cecilia Church in Stamford, followed by burial at St. Mary’s/Putnam Cemetery in Greenwich. No calling hours were held.
