Late Model Mercedes SUV Stolen — Left Apparently Unlocked, With Keys In It, Later Recovered

A 2018 Mercedes GLS450 SUV, apparently unlocked and (the owner believes) with the keys left inside, was stolen sometime overnight Thursday to Friday, May 16 to 17, Darien police said. The owner told police he parked the car in front of his house at 48 Country Club Road, off of Hoyt Street, near the Merritt Parkway) at about 8 p.m., Thursday, then, at 7:30 a.m., found it was missing. But not for long. The SUV was found almost 11 miles away, off the southbound-traffic lanes on the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich, near Exit 28. It had run out of gas.
