An 18-year-old man in an SUV parked at Royle School at night on Monday, April 10, was found with marijuana and pot-related drug paraphernalia, Darien police said. Police described the incident with this account (including accusations not proven in court):
After a police saw a 2007 Ford Edge driving in the area of Mansfield Avenue and Royle Road, a police officer at 9:40 p.m. again saw the SUV. This time it was backed into a corner spot in the school parking lot. When the teenage driver, a Stamford resident, saw the patrol car, he started to drive out of the parking lot, but police stopped the vehicle. Police officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming out of the SUV, and the driver admitted there was marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside, and he gave police his consent to search for it.
