A Greenwich woman was hospitalized overnight after her horse died and collapsed on her as she was riding it Sunday in Ox Ridge Hunt Club’s annual show. Laura Sexton, 31, was taken to Stamford Hospital on Sunday, then released Monday, according to the Chronicle of the Horse, a publication widely known among horse enthusiasts. Sexton and her horse,Jessy Du Breau, an 18-year-old Selle Français mare, according to the Chronicle of the Horse, were performing jumps and trotting when the horse trotted out of the fenced area, past a barrier rope and suddenly collapsed, trapping Sexton underneath until bystanders moved it off of her, according to Darien police. The rider, who police would not name, was unresponsive at the time police arrived at about 2:30 p.m., but she was verbally responding to medics by the time an ambulance took her to the hospital, according to police. The horse weighed an estimated 1,200 pounds.
