Silent Film Screening with Musical Accompaniment: “Wings”

Please join us for this silent film screening of “Wings” the first to win Best Film in the Oscars went to this aerial World War I adventure about two fledgling aviators itching to take on the Kaiser’s aces. Look for a very young Gary Cooper as a veteran flier. About the performer
John Mucci is a well-known local film historian and silent film accompanist, who has performed extensively on the east coast, as well as in Westchester, Pittsburgh, and Phoenix. He has taught film and video at Sacred Heart and Fairfield Universities, lectured on silents at ArtsEscape as well as libraries in the area, and can be heard accompanying dozens of classic silent films.

As a composer, he has also co-written 11 musical plays that have been performed internationally, and scores for two docudramas for Connecticut Public TV were nominated for New England Emmy awards.

Songs for Seeds Children’s Concert at Darien Library

Songs for Seeds is a kiddie rock band featuring interactive performances that appeal to all ages. Performances include original songs and covers of  Top 40 hits from various decades that will have even the adults toe-tapping. Your little one will be ready to dance and sing during this high-energy concert! This special concert is courtesy of Songs for Seeds of Greenwich and Darien. Mars Project to Play at Grove Street Plaza in Darien Summer Nights Series

Kick off your weekend this Friday, July 7, with Darien Summer Nights. The concerts return to Grove Street Plaza with fan favorite, Mars Project. John Gerardi and his band, also known as Ratso and Friends, have been playing their spirited blues on Grove Street for many years to a large audience. These long-time friends came together in 2008, and have since become a local sensation. Listen to percussionist Mike Marble hammering on his drums, bassist Scott Spray slappin’ the strings, and lead guitarist John “Ratso” Gerardi pluckin’ away with the accompaniment of Bill Harris on the saxophone.
