Police: Dog Bites Man on Post Road in Noroton, Owner on the Other End of the Leash Apologizes

A man jogging near the intersection of the Post Road and Salt Box Lane in the Noroton section of Darien was bitten by a dog as he passed the dog and its owner on Saturday, police were told. Darien police provided this further information about the incident:
The man was jogging on the sidewalk on the Post Road at about 1 p.m. when a female with a dog on a leash approached him from the opposite direction. He told police he believes the dog is a German shepard. The woman was on the phone. In order to avoid the female and the dog, he left the sidewalk for the roadway, but the dog, police said, “had enough slack on its leash that it was able to lunge at him and bite him on the hamstring (tendons at the back of the leg near the knee).
