To the editor:

The Darien Library’s ninth annual Fundraising Gala — the Secret Garden Gala — was held on Saturday, June 3, and was a fantastic night enjoyed by all. Thank you to everyone in the community who came out to support the Library and its services to our town. We raised more than $100,000 and all proceeds will support the Library’s purchase of books, DVDs, technology, research databases, and the many programs offered for children, teens and adults. Darien Library presents its annual Spring fundraiser at 7 p.m., Saturday, June 3. This year “The Secret Garden Gala” will be a festive party in the outdoor courtyard with silent and live auctions, cocktails, Two Roads beer, Simply Creative Catering, and live music by Jay and Ray. The Gala Committee is hard at work gathering fantastic auction items and making plans to transform the Library into a “secret garden.” Stacey Tié, chair, is joined by Catherine Bailey, Alison Gird, Kathy Hardy and Sarah Madson, along with the Library Board of Trustees. “This is a real fun event that supports our incredible Library!” said Stacey. “Here’s a chance to start your summer with your friends, enjoy music, entertainment, food and drink, all the while supporting our beloved Library.”

All funds raised from the event will be dedicated to expanding library resources, including purchasing new books, technology, and supporting programs and guest speakers.
