Darien Police Have Free Gun Locks & They Accept Unwanted Guns

The Darien Police Department recommends that if you have a gun, especially if there are children in the house, lock it up; and they’ve got gun locks available at the department, 24 hours a day. If you want to get rid of your gun, you can give it to the department, which will even pick it up at your house. (Guns given to the department are destroyed.) If you don’t have a permit for the gun or aren’t sure if you have one, have police pick it up — it’s against the law to drive around with a gun unless you’ve got a permit for it. And whatever you do, don’t carry the gun into the police station with you. Leave it in your car and a police officer will retrieve it.
