A dog that had made its way out to a small patch of grassy land on Five Mile River was stranded when the tide came in on Tuesday afternoon, so Darien Fire Department and Police Department came to the rescue. Firefighters quickly got into cold water gear and used a nearby dinghy to reach the dog, according to a Darien police post on Instagram. They returned to shore, where the pet was reunited with its owner. “Great work all!!!” the police Instagram message said.
