Police: DUI Driver in Vehicle Accident Leaves the Scene Where Scooter Rider Is Injured, Lying on Roadway

A driver with more than double the legal blood-alcohol limit got into a motor vehicle accident with an e-scooter rider on the Post Road, then drove off, leaving the man lying on the pavement with serious injuries, Darien police said. The rider went in and out of consciousness, according to a police officer who had heard the crash and went to the scene to find out what had happened, police said. The rider was taken to a hospital. Police gave this additional account, including accusations not proven in court:

At 10:36 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 16, when the police officer arrived at the scene, somewhere east of the intersection of the Post Road and Garden City Road in Noroton, the scooter and debris from the accident were on the roadway.

Police: DUI for 18-Year-Old After His Vehicle Strikes a Utility Box

An 18-year-old man was intoxicated when his vehicle struck a utility box on Scofield Farm Road sometime after 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, Darien police said. Police did not indicate he was injured in any way. Darien police gave this further account of what happened, including accusations not proven in court:

Police received a report about the accident at 11:17 p.m. The driver, Sebastian Urrea of Westport, told police he was lost when he tried to make a U-turn and lost control of the vehicle. An officer who spoke with Urrea smelled an alcoholic beverage coming from him, so the driver was administered field sobriety tests, which he didn’t perform to an adequate standard.

Police: DUI Charge for Darien Man, 61, Sleeping in Car, Heroin in His Pocket, Gear Shift in Drive

Police officers responding to a report of an erratic driver said they found the man apparently asleep, behind the wheel of a car resting partly on a lawn, with the gear shift still set in “Drive.” The officers said they also found some heroin in one of his pockets. Darien police gave this additional account of what happened, including accusations not proven in court:

Police were called at 9:13 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12. They found the car and its driver near the intersection of Glenvale Road and Christie Hill Road. An officer reached in the vehicle and set the gear shift to park and woke up the man — David Sabrowski, 61, of Allen O’Neill Drive.

Police: Driver Found Intoxicated, Asleep Behind the Wheel in Middle of Intersection

A 32-year-old man was found asleep in the middle of one of the intersections of Rings End Road and Harbor Road at about 1:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 10, Darien police said. When he was given breath tests almost an hour later, police said, the results were nearly three times the legally allowed alcohol content in his blood, according to police. The police account includes accusations not proven in court. Here’s the rest of what police said:

When police arrived at the scene in response to the 1:37 a.m. report, they saw a Honda Odyssey stopped in the intersection with the driver, Ramro Munoz of Trumbull, slumped against the driver’s side window.

Police: DUI for Man, 24, Driving on Post Road After 2 AM, Saturday

A 24-year-old man was charged with driving while under the influence Saturday after a police officer saw his car go over the double yellow line on the Post Road near Noroton Avenue, police said. Darien police gave this account of what happened, including accusations not proven in court:

At 2:32 a.m., the officer saw the vehicle being driven west. (Police didn’t say whether the vehicle was a car, SUV or truck). After seeing the vehicle cross the yellow lines, the officer stopped it. The driver had slurred speech, glassy eyes and smelled of alcohol.
