A burglar went through the trouble and worked up the nerve to, it seems, break a glass door on the side of Chipotle Mexican Grill at 71 Post Road to get into the restaurant. And, at least so far, he’s gotten away with doing that. He was gone by the time police arrived. But that was the only lucky thing that happened to him. A large window was smashed by rocks and a key fob was stolen from a desk at BMW of Darien sometime before 2:14 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, police said. Darien police gave these further details of the incident:
Someone making a parts delivery in the wee hours saw broken windows on the south side of the reception area of the dealership at 140 Ledge Road and called police. Officers who responded to the call found several rocks on the floor near the broken windows. They searched the building for burglars but found no one and no additional evidence. Later it was determined that the only item known to be missing in the building was a key fob from one of the desks in the reception area.
A cash register holding about $300 was stolen in a break-in at Blue Wave Taco on the Post Road, employees discovered when they got to work on Monday morning, March 18, police said. The rear glass door of the business at 205 Post Road was shattered, apparently by a brick found just inside the door. The employees called the owner, who reported the burglary to police at 10:29 a.m. Darien police detectives examined the scene for evidence, and an investigation is ongoing.
