Dear Chief Osborne,

I, Rhea Bhat, am part of the Darien chapter of (SADD) Student Against Destructive Decisions, with a focus on distracted driving. I took up this initiative after becoming a victim of distracted driving.

My goal is to continuously strive to raise awareness about distracted driving within our community. I am currently running a campaign against distracted driving with a focus on my peer group who are the most vulnerable as they come from the technology age where cell phones are an extension of the person. They are newly entering the world of driving.

Since taking up the initiative I have received phenomenal support from Sergeant Moore and Officer Isaac, who have been a constant source of information and guidance.

It was very comforting to me that Officer Isaac and Sgt. Moore were able to attend and support me at the State Capitol on April 2, where I spoke on distracted driving, which was sponsored by the AAA. My family and I would like to express our deep gratitude and appreciation to you, Chief Osbornem for allowing them to attend.

I would like to publicly thank you, Chief Osborne, along with the Darien Police Department, for the kindness shown to me and my family. As part of this campaign, if we can avoid and prevent even one fatal incident and save a life we have succeed in our mission.

Thank you for keeping our community safe.

Regards,

Rhea Bhat
