6:59 p.m.: Connecticut Transit just announced: “All bus service, including CTtransit local and express and CTfastrak services, will be suspended state-wide from 2:00am Saturday, Jan. 29, to 3 a.m. Sunday January 30th due to the approaching winter storm.

6:57 p.m.: Palmer’s Market will open at 10 a.m., Saturday, due to the weather, the supermarket announced on Facebook.

4:47 p.m.: Metro-North is suspending service on the New Canaan Branch on Saturday, and trains on the New Haven Line and other lines will be running hourly, the railroad has announced.

4:25 p.m.: “The Darien YMCA will be closed tomorrow, Jan. 29 due to the impending snowstorm. We plan to open as scheduled Sunday, Jan. 30,” the organization announced.

4:22 p.m.: All Darien Public Schools buildings will be closed both Saturday and Sunday due to the weather, the school district has announced on its website.

The entire announcement reads: “All DPS buildings are closed Saturday 1/29/22 and Sunday 1/30/22 due to the weather.”

4:16 p.m.: The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection tweeted at 4:04 p.m.: “Due to the impending snow storm, all State Parks and Forests will be closed tomorrow, January 29, and areas will remain closed on Sunday until snow removal is completed.”

4:13 p.m.: Person to Person will be closed on Saturday, the charity organization said in a 1:02 p.m. tweet labeled “Weather Alert.”

4:10 p.m.: Griebs Pharmacy will be closed Saturday “due to the impending snow!” the store announced at 4:04 p.m. on its Facebook page.

4:06 p.m.: As of this time, CVS in Darien is scheduled to be open until 10 p.m. (pharmacy until 8 p.m.) and open on Saturday, a store employee said. Any decisions to close the store or cut back hours could always be made later, he added.

4:02 p.m.: Walgreens in Noroton Heights is closing at 7 p.m. They won’t be open again until Monday morning (they’re usually closed on weekends now).

3:55 p.m.: Darien Library has announced it will be closed Saturday due to the weather.

1:51 p.m.: The Town Hall building will be closed on Saturday because of the expected storm, the town government Twitter account said on Thursday.

“[A]ll planned activities will be rescheduled or cancelled.”

9:36 a.m.: The town dump and the Swap Shop will be closed on Saturday.

A 9:22 a.m. tweet from the town government Twitter account said: “Due to the impending storm, the Darien Transfer Station and Recycling Center will be closed on Saturday, January 29th. The Swap Shop will be closed as well. Please stay safe!”

8:38 a.m., Friday: The first and, so far, only postponement for the snowstorm expected to start Friday night is for the COVID-19 vaccine clinic for 5- to 11-year-olds in Town Hall:

“The COVID vaccine clinic for 5 to 11 year olds scheduled for this Saturday, Jan. 29 in the Town Hall gym from noon to 3 p.m. has been rescheduled to Saturday Feb. 5, same time, same place. Vaccine used is Pfizer, for 5 to 11 year olds ONLY, and is intended to be the second dose for those who received their first one on Jan. 8. However, others in that age group (5 to 11) can attend and receive their first dose (or second if eligible). No appointment is necessary.”
