A 38-year-old Darien woman told police on Saturday that her $200 wallet, containing $800, apparently was stolen from her purse when she went to Starbucks  and bought a cup of coffee.

Darien police provided these further details of the incident:

The woman told police that at about 1:52 p.m. that day, Sept. 1, she went to Starbucks at 815 Post Road and paid for the coffee.

She then went to Trader Joe’s store at 436 Post Road and realized in the checkout line that her brown Louis Vuitton wallet was missing from her purse. She went back to Starbucks, but couldn’t find the wallet.

She told police she wasn’t positive where the wallet had been taken from her.

She didn’t just lose the wallet and the cash: Also in the wallet were her driver’s license, various credit cards and several department store cards.

At about 3 p.m. that day, she received an email receipt from the Apple Store in Greenwich indicating that a $4,124.26 purchase had been made with her missing Visa card. Police are continuing to investigate.
