Due to the proposed changes in the federal tax bill, Tax Collector Kathleen Larkins is informing Darien residents which tax payments can be legally accepted in advance (before Jan. 1, 2018) so they can be deducted under current IRS rules:

  • 2016 Grand List 2nd installment Real Estate taxes due Jan. 1, 2018
  • 2016 Grand List 2nd installment Personal Property taxes due Jan. 1, 2018
  • 2016 Grand List Supplemental Motor Vehicle taxes due Jan. 1, 2018

The 2016 Supplemental Motor Vehicle tax bills will be mailed on Friday Dec. 29, 2017.  [That means, if you rely on the mail, you won’t be able to pay them until 2018, when the new tax deduction rules go into effect.] To accommodate prepayment, these bills will be available on the Darien town website (www.darienct.gov) by Thursday, Dec. 21.
