Polett has previously served as regent, registrar, treasurer and is also an honorary regent. Membership in the DAR, which was organized in 1892, is open to any woman over the age of 18 who can trace her direct lineage to a male or female patriot who served or gave material aid to the cause of American Independence during the Revolutionary War.
