West Avenue near Edgerton Street will be closed to all traffic each evening and night from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. between this Wednesday, Oct. 7, and Oct. 21, Darien police announced Tuesday morning.
During the same two-week period, expect delays if you use the eastbound traffic lane (toward Norwalk) along that stretch of West Avenue, police said.
The westbound lane (toward Stamford) will remain open, with alternating traffic flow either way. Police will direct traffic from about 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
“Minor delays should be expected and it is recommended that motorists seek alternate routes,” the police announcement said. “Pedestrians, bicyclists, joggers, etc., should seek alternate routes or proceed with caution in this area during times of construction.”
The construction project involved in the delay is the Federal Realty project, the Commons at Noroton Heights, where Walgreens, the former Stop & Shop shopping plaza and adjacent lots are located.
