Sometime before 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, the day after Martin Luther King Jr. Day, an employee at the Green & Tonic store downtown found the front door had been unlocked and a safe with cash inside was missing, Darien police said.
The amount of money in the safe wasn’t known when police were notified of the burglary at 10:39 a.m., according to police. Police detectives examined the store at 1098 Post Road for evidence.
A lock box attached to the outside of the building, which held a key to the front door, was also missing.
