The Darien League of Women Voters will hold its Annual Meeting at the Country Club of Darien at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 25. The meeting will be followed at noon by lunch and a program titled “No Labels: The New Center Strikes Back.”
The speaker will be Clyde White, a member of the “No Labels” group. As he explains it, No Labels is the voice for the New Center, for the tens of millions of Americans who believe it is time to push back against the extremists on both sides who are making it virtually impossible to govern our country.

— an announcement from the Darien League of Women Voters
_______________
To counter Congressional inaction, New Labels has created a problem solving caucus of 40 centrist congressmen who will act as a voting bloc to pass sensible legislation which the legislators of either extreme are trying to block. Congressman Jim Himes is a member of this group.
One important role of No Labels members is to reach out to their elected officials when they feel strongly about a piece of legislation. The other important mission is to publicize the organization and let people know how they can help influence policy.
Clyde White worked for 30 years on Wall Street at Paine Weber, Morgan Stanley and Natixis in equity derivatives, where, as he put it, he saw first- hand how we have many policies that favor those who are better off. He is currently a Certified Financial Planner.
