A 47-year-old man threatened and stalked a woman a month after he was issued a judge’s restraining order not to do either of those things, Darien police said. Police described what happened with this account, including accusations not proven in court:

The man, whose last known address was in Stamford, was issued the restraining order by a judge in state Superior Court in Stamford on June 29. The order stated in part: “Do not contact the protected party in any manner” and “do not threaten, abuse, harass, follow, interfere or stalk the protected person.”

At about 9:10 a.m., Aug. 1, the woman went to Police Headquarters and told police that, according to a police news release, “she had received a notification email from a popular online app indicating that [the man] started ‘following’ the victim on line on or about July 18.” The woman said that the man threatened her and also had been seen driving by a department store numerous times on July 2, when she was shopping there.

When Darien police questioned a man, 26, and woman in a car at Woodland Park after the park was closed, the man turned out to have a protective order forbidding him to be in the company of the woman, police said. Darien police described the matter with this account, including accusations not proven in court:

Police saw the car at the West Avenue entrance to Woodland Park at 8:48 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, after the park was closed and when there was a chain across the entrance. After the man gave police his name, they did a routine check against state police records and found that an arrest warrant had been issued charging him with failure to appear in court, stemming from charges filed by state police Troop G in Bridgeport. In Bridgeport, he was charged back in January with failure to drive in the proper lane and driving with a suspended driver’s license. He hasn’t pleaded guilty or not guilty to the charges, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website.

A 19-year-old woman told Darien police that she thought a protective order prohibiting her from being at the home of the victim didn’t apply when the victim moved to a new residence, according to police. It does, and the woman was arrested. At 2:18 p.m. on Monday, April 10, police were called to the home in the 100 block of Noroton Avenue, where the 19-year-old, a Stamford woman, told them she had been invited to the home and arrived at about 1:45 p.m., then a dispute developed, police said. Police quoted the woman saying the resident had “thrown her out of the house.” The Stamford woman was charged with violating the protective order and initially held her on $10,000 bond.
