Police: Leaving Scene Where She Struck a Sign Gets Woman, 35, Arrested for Evading Responsibility

A police officer saw a vehicle strike a sign in the parking lot of Holmes School then leave the scene on Friday evening, Jan. 24, police said. He described the car for a police radio alert that resulted in Stamford police finding the car and driver, who was charged with evading responsibility, police said. Darien police gave this further description of what happened, including accusations not proven in court:

The officer saw the vehicle strike a curb and then the sign in the parking lot at 7:12 p.m., causing damage. The vehicle’s description was sent to police agencies in the area, and 45 minutes later, Stamford police saw the vehicle and stopped it on Waterbury Avenue in Stamford.
