Contractor Dies After Apparent Fall at House Construction Site on Nearwater Lane

A contractor who was found injured with visible head trauma beneath a scaffold at a construction site for a Nearwater Lane house was pronounced dead after he was rushed to Stamford Hospital, police said. The accident occurred shortly before Darien police were called at 12:51 p.m. Monday. No other workers at the site saw what happened Darien EMS-Post 53 transported the man to the hospital. Police, who issued an announcement about the matter at 4:49 p.m., said they were not releasing the name of the victim until family members were notified. “The incident remains under investigation and there is no additional information to be released at this time,” police said in the announcement.
