Margaret Ann Wright, 90, of Minneapolis passed away peacefully on Nov. 6, 2019 surrounded by family. Margaret was born Jan. 1, 1929 in Gary, Indiana, and was the oldest daughter of the late Rosalie and Willard Lowe. She was a long-time resident of Darien from 1953 until 2009.
Nicholas J. De Marco died peacefully at home with his loving family at his side on Nov. 10. He was 73. Nick was born in Brooklyn, New York, the oldest of three siblings in a warm Italian family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Anni; his adored son, Nick; predeceased by his beautiful daughter, Dawn; a brother, Anthony De Marco, Jr.; and a sister, Cathy Smith.
William Francis Moore, a resident of Darien for more than 48 years, passed away peacefully with his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Jane by his side on Friday, Nov. 8. He was 87. Born on February 23, 1932 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Hugh and Florida Moore. Bill attended Western Maryland College on a football scholarship and graduated from UMass Dartmouth.
Jennifer L. Moe, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend to so many, died on Nov. 1 in Stamford Hospital, surrounded by her adoring family. She was 90 years old. Jennifer was known as Jenny by family and friends alike until she became a grandmother. After that, she was Nana to all.
Sandra Wiley Carlson, 78, passed away in her home in Lords Valley, Pennsylvania, on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019. Born Sept. 3, 1941, in Norwalk, Sandra went by the nicknames “Sam” and “Sandy” and was known for her sense of humor, her bright smile, her amazing homemaker skills—she could iron, quilt, crochet, sew, cook, garden, and make a home like nobody else. Sandy loved her family and doted on her three grandchildren — Adella Dzitko-Carlson, Alex Trompetta, Adam Trompetta — who survive her.
Mary Patricia Parlette died peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019 at Fairfield County Hospice House in Stamford. She was 93. Always known as Pat, she was born on Feb. 13, 1926, the beloved daughter of Mary and Oliver Parlette.
Ronald M. Heinbaugh of Darien passed away on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Stamford Hospital. He was 90. Born on Nov. 22, 1928 in Harrisburg, PA, he was the son of the late Miley and Euretta (Gottschall) Heinbaugh.
Susan Gantt Helstein died peacefully on Nov. 3, 2019 with her beloved husband Dick and family by her side after a courageous six-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in 1945 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Harriett and Basil Gantt. Sue was the second of four siblings. She received her nursing degree from the University of Pennsylvania where she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the National Honor Society for Nursing.
Paul Frank Landovsky, passed away, after a long time being bedridden, on Oct. 31 in Darien. He was 90. He was born June 29, 1929, in Ostrava-Vitkovice, Czechoslovakia. Paul grew up in family farm in Pist, near Ostrava, Czechoslovakia, the first child of Josef Landovsky and Pavla Kozminova.
Gene Hunt passed away peacefully on Oct. 30. She was 98. Gene’s strong Christian faith guided her life, and she is now home with her Lord and Savior. She was born Lola Eugene Campbell on July 2, 1921, in Ryan, Oklahoma to Anson Burton Campbell and Beatrice Mae Bullock Campbell.
Professor John Alan “Jack” James, chairman (Emeritus) of the Global Center for Governance, Reporting & Compliance at Pace University’s Lubin School of Business, passed away peacefully, Oct 25, 2019 in the Veterans Hospital at West Haven. He was 92 and left a lasting legacy. His family, friends and professional colleagues who followed his distinguished career know that he left every company, country, local government and institution he served a better place in which to live and work. A resident of Darien, Greenwich and Stamford after moving from Brussels in 1979, Jack continued his public service to the State of Connecticut. He was active on the International Trade Committee of the Stamford Chamber of Commerce and served five years in the cabinet of Governor Ella Grasso as director of the International Business and Economic Development office, recruiting and training a Brussels-based EU office.
Angela Bothwell, a 47-year resident of Darien, passed away on Monday, Oct. 28 at home, peacefully in her sleep. Born Oct. 2, 1943, she was the daughter of Giovanni and Emilia Fedele. Angela grew up in Stamford and graduated from Stamford High School.
Nigel Savage MacEwan, a former resident of Darien and recent resident of New Canaan and Islesboro, Maine, passed away on Oct. 25 at Waveny Care Center in New Canaan. He was 86 years old. Born March 21, 1933, Nigel was the only child of the late Ellen Wharton and Nigel Savage MacEwan. After graduating magna cum laude from Yale University in 1955, Nigel served as a lieutenant junior grade (SC) in the U.S. Navy and then received an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1959.
William Sylvester Brill, Jr., formerly of Milford and Darien, passed away on Oct. 23, 2019 of natural causes. He was 83. Born April 14, 1936 in White Plains, New York, he was the son of William S. and Vivian (Hughes) Brill. Mr. Brill graduated from Mamaroneck High School in New York and the State University of New York at Farmingdale.
Roger Sibelius of Grand Junction, Colorado died unexpectedly but peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019 at the age of 82. He was the son of Arthur and Lena (Jane) Sibelius and graduated from Darien High School. He lived in Danbury most of his life and enjoyed golfing at Richter Park and dining at Jim Barbarie’s Restaurant. He also enjoyed socializing with friends and neighbors on Little John Lane in Stamford.
