Stamford Town Center parking stations will be replaced with an online system in which shoppers use their smartphones to pay for parking. A 35-cent processing fee will be added to the $1 per hour cost of parking at the mall.

The change will take place in October, the mall’s management announced on Friday. The new service at the mall will be provided by AirGarage, a parking operator that’s installed the same system at 300 locations across the country, including shopping centers, resorts and office buildings.
In October, existing pay stations at the mall will be removed and replaced with AirGarage’s “mobile-first platform” which “allows visitors to park and pay directly from their smartphones, making parking faster, easier, and hassle-free,” the announcement said.

No parking by flying vehicles — yet.
Sessions begin when you park and end when you leave, so there’s no need to guess how long you’ll be parked or return to pay. For an even simpler experience, drivers can opt-in to automatic sessions. With license plate recognition (LPR), your session begins automatically when you enter and ends when you exit, no need to tap start or stop.
“This upgrade is all about making parking easier for our guests,” said Dan Stolzenbach, the mall’s general manager. No more pay stations, no more tickets, just a smooth, modern experience, especially if customers opt into the automatic sessions feature.”
According to AirGarage, the new payment system gives customers “increased revenue, reduced maintenance costs and fewer driver complaints.”

Getting started is simple: 1. Download the AirGarage app or visit Pay.AirGarage.com.
2. Create an account and add your payment method.
3. Scan the QR code at the parking entrance or search for ‘Stamford Town Center’ in the app.
4. Tap ‘Start Parking’ when you arrive.
5. Tap ‘End Parking’ when you leave to end your session and receive a receipt.
