Nicholas J. De Marco died peacefully at home with his loving family at his side on Nov. 10. He was 73. Nick was born in Brooklyn, New York, the oldest of three siblings in a warm Italian family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Anni; his adored son, Nick; predeceased by his beautiful daughter, Dawn; a brother, Anthony De Marco, Jr.; and a sister, Cathy Smith.

William Francis Moore, a resident of Darien for more than 48 years, passed away peacefully with his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Jane by his side on Friday, Nov. 8. He was 87. Born on February 23, 1932 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Hugh and Florida Moore. Bill attended Western Maryland College on a football scholarship and graduated from UMass Dartmouth.

Sandra Wiley Carlson, 78, passed away in her home in Lords Valley, Pennsylvania, on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019. Born Sept. 3, 1941, in Norwalk, Sandra went by the nicknames “Sam” and “Sandy” and was known for her sense of humor, her bright smile, her amazing homemaker skills—she could iron, quilt, crochet, sew, cook, garden, and make a home like nobody else. Sandy loved her family and doted on her three grandchildren — Adella Dzitko-Carlson, Alex Trompetta, Adam Trompetta — who survive her.

Susan Gantt Helstein died peacefully on Nov. 3, 2019 with her beloved husband Dick and family by her side after a courageous six-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in 1945 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Harriett and Basil Gantt. Sue was the second of four siblings. She received her nursing degree from the University of Pennsylvania where she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the National Honor Society for Nursing.

Nigel Savage MacEwan, a former resident of Darien and recent resident of New Canaan and Islesboro, Maine, passed away on Oct. 25 at Waveny Care Center in New Canaan. He was 86 years old. Born March 21, 1933, Nigel was the only child of the late Ellen Wharton and Nigel Savage MacEwan. After graduating magna cum laude from Yale University in 1955, Nigel served as a lieutenant junior grade (SC) in the U.S. Navy and then received an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1959.

Samuel D.B. Millar Jr. passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 3 in Wellfleet, Massachusetts. Born in 1931, Sandy grew up in Montclair, New Jersey, the third child of Samuel Millar and Louise Bonynge. His siblings were brother, Bill (Suzanne Simond) and sisters, Jeanne (John Almquist) and Carol (Peter Forstmann). Throughout his childhood and early adulthood Sandy spent many idyllic summers in New Preston, Connecticut on Lake Waramaug at his grandparents’ home.
