The guest conductor will be Tom Trenney, minister of music at First-Plymouth Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. This festival is also sponsored by the United Church of Church Musicians Association and the Fairfield-West Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Tom Trenney shares his passion as pastoral musician, composer, and teacher in worship with his home congregation, First-Plymouth Church in Lincoln, Nebraska, in the college classroom, and in performances, hymn festivals, choral, and organ workshops and master classes all around the country. Dr. Craig Scott Symons, Minister of Music at First Congregational Church of Greenwich says that, so far, there are singers attending the festival from West Hartford, Guilford, Stamford, and Greenwich.

John Lehmann-Haupt. will perform a mix of classical works and his own arrangements of popular and traditional songs, including works by Bach, Jobim, Albeniz, Stevie Wonder, and James Taylor, as Darien Library’s Music in the Stacks series returns for a fall performance, Sunday, Sept. 29. You’re invited to the performance from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Community Room. John Lehmann-Haupt, a New York-based guitarist, draws on the wide range of music he has explored over the years, from folk songs and blues, through popular standards new and old, and on to the varied expanses of the classical realm.

Formed in 2017 for special event performances, Exit Ramp Band features some of the best musicians in the area who’ve played individually and together for decades and in multiple bands: Frank Barrese (guitar), Luis Cotto (vocals), Paula Gallo (vocals), John Lamb (keyboard), Richard Colligan, who grew up in Darien playing “Battle of the Bands at the Barn” (percussion). They have a playlist of contemporary rock and neo-soul, clean and powerfully delivered, including: Maroon5, Bruno Mars, Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheeran, Billy Joel, Kings of Leon among others you know well and dance to. Busker’s origin dates back to the mid ’90s when Paul Dubanowitz, Kevin Bannerton and Paul Kezmarsky were part of The Blue Route. During those years, they shared the stage with such artists as Mike Peters (The Alarm), Simon Townshend, Cold Water Flat and G.E Smith (Saturday Night Live). They returned to stage after a short hiatus and renamed, Busker and adding new members Kevin McGuire and Chris Telep to the band.

Phil Rosenthal is a nationally renowned singer, songwriter, recording artist and record producer. For many years the lead singer and guitarist in the popular bluegrass group The Seldom Scene, he is also highly respected for his instrumental skills on banjo and mandolin. A native of Guilford, Phil began his professional career in the 1970s as mandolin player and singer in the New England-based bluegrass bands Apple Country and Old Dog.
