When Darien police responded to a report of a male pulling on vehicle door handles in the Noroton Heights train station parking lot, they came upon a 32-year-old Patterson, New Jersey man.
The man (or someone with the same name and birth year) had been arrested several times before around the state, mostly on larceny charges.
Police gave this further description of what happened, including accusations not proven in court:
The incident occurred at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23. The man, Jose Borgen-Reyes, told police his name was Brian Diaz. When police tried to pat him down, he began to pull away from the officers, who found several different key fobs on him, along with two iPhones and drug paraphernalia.
Police were able to find a vehicle in the parking lot that one of the key fobs was for.
Borgen-Reyes, of Market Street in Patterson, New Jersey, was charged with third-degree burglary from a motor vehicle, sixth-degree larceny, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of narcotics and interfering with an officer.
Although Darien police did not say so, the Connecticut Judicial Branch website says that Borgen-Reyes was charged in this case with two counts each of third-degree burglary from a motor vehicle and sixth-degree larceny.
He is being held on $50,000 bond, according to the website, and is scheduled to appear Feb. 2 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
Several other arrests from various places in Connecticut have been made of a Jose Antonio Borgen-Reyes with the same birth year, according to the website, and in all but one of the case the defendant was also charged with failing to appear in court.
