Report: Lesson About Hitler Results in Suspension of Middlesex Middle School Teacher

A teacher at Middlesex Middle School has been suspended after telling students to draw a swastika in their notebooks and asking them to write a paragraph listing reasons why Hitler may have been good for Germany, according to a published report. The article, published Thursday in the Connecticut Examiner and citing unamed “multiple sources,” said that an unnamed “veteran” social studies teacher of a seventh grade class was teaching a lesson on the Holocaust. According to the report, the teacher  showed students a baby picture of Adolf Hitler. The report said the teacher commented on how cute the child was. Some students in the seventh grade class were “reportedly visibly upset,” according to the Examiner report.

Police: SUV Stolen from Stanton Road, Found in Mount Vernon, New York

A 2022 Infinity SUV was stolen from sa residence on Stanton Road in the early evening of Monday, Jan. 29, then found two days later in Mount Vernon, New York. The victim reviewed his Ring surveillance camera, which showed a white SUV slowly driving down the street at 7:35 p.m., police said. Police didn’t say whether or not the SUV was parked outside, or whether it was locked with the keys inside — the usual pattern for these thefts. Mount Vernon police notified Darien police on Jan.

Police: Man Charged With Burglary, Larceny, Drug Possession at Noroton Heights Train Station Lot

When Darien police responded to a report of a male pulling on vehicle door handles in the Noroton Heights train station parking lot, they came upon a 32-year-old Patterson, New Jersey man. The man (or someone with the same name and birth year) had been arrested several times before around the state, mostly on larceny charges. Police gave this further description of what happened, including accusations not proven in court:

The incident occurred at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23. The man, Jose Borgen-Reyes, told police his name was Brian Diaz.
